Another "Stained Glass" quilt. This technique involves beginning with a solid piece of black cotton. The pattern is drawn onto this fabric and the angel is "cut away" leaving the leading.

Each individual piece of the pattern is placed behind the "leading" and sewn to the leading. This technique is known as reverse applique.

I have completed the Christmas Angel in both traditional red and green Christmas colours as well as more modern tones of pink, burgandy and silver. It never ceases to amaze me how the same pattern in other colours can look totally different.
