Twelve traditional homes (click on each square of the quilt image above for greater detail) from distinct areas of France are represented. Hand painted fabric was used for the sky. I had great fun using many of my "Fancy Stitches" for embellishments such as flowers in window boxes, hedges and other details.

To give dimension to each panel, each tree and bush was slightly "stuffed" everything from satin, corduroy to lace was used in this art quilt.

I think the lesson that I learned in creating this work is “It pays to be a packrat!!” as choosing just the right fabric was critical to the finished look.
