Every once in awhile a very trusting (& brave) customer asks me to design something unique. In this case, the initial inspiration came from his mom's love of bluebirds so bluebirds it was.

But those birds need homes, so a tree was created. This tree became a "family tree" with each branch representing part of the family.

The background fabric consisted of hand painted "sky", and many, many flowers were individually cutout appliqued as the outer border.

A ribbon of silver metallic fabric was used as an accent and to give the quilt a little extra sparkle.
